History of Guild Care

75 years of Social Care history in Worthing

Many thanks to the late Edward Kellett for compiling these accounts in the 1990s without which much of our organisation's history would have been lost.

1963 methold house

 

 
1930s - Free boots, dentists, a rest cottage and starting the Citizens Advice Bureau

1940s - The first home, Darby & Joan club and the first Caer Gwent

1950s - Whitcomb and the first Methold House
1960s - Ashmount, Frazer Lodge and Dolphin Court
1970s - An appeal for Methold, Irene House and change of name to Worthing Voluntary Service
1980s - New day centres, the Lovett Club, 50th Anniversary and a new Caer Gwent
1990s - New services launched, Ashdown opens and the charity relaunched as Guild Care
2000 to 2008 - Lottery Funding for the Healthy Living Centre, the GreenHouse and a new care home
