Legacies and In Memoriam donations

A significant proportion of the money that Guild Care needs to carry out our work in Worthing and the surrounding areas comes from gifts left in Wills. Sometimes it is our service users who decide to leave a gift; other benefactors prefer to remain anonymous.

Legacies are an important source of funding and we value each and every one, however large or small.

People have been remembering Guild Care in their Wills since as far back as the 1940’s. It is thanks to their generosity that we have been able to purchase several of our care homes and vital equipment.

In 2003 a gift of £5,540 enabled Guild Care to landscape and re-plant part of the garden at our Caer Gwent Home. The improvements made a significant difference to residents, particularly those whose rooms overlook the garden.

In memoriam donationsAnother gift of £600 in 2006 benefited residents at Dolphin Court, Guild Care’s sheltered housing accommodation. Communal areas were brightened up with new soft furnishings, flower arrangements, ornaments, lamps and new lighting.

More recently one of our care homes residents left £31,000. This gift funded the refurbishment of the lounge at our Ashmount Home which was transformed into a lovely dining and entertainment area. We also installed a large flat screen television in the lounge for regular film afternoons. All residents’ bedrooms now have phone points and there is internet access for everyone.

Some people prefer to say exactly how they would like their gift to be used. Others leave the decision to us, knowing that Guild Care’s needs, and those of our service users, can change over the years.

Whatever you decide, you can depend on us to use your donation wisely and effectively.

We have produced a booklet which offers more information on how to leave a Will to charity. To receive a copy please contact us on 01903 528630.

Your enquiry will be handled with sensitivity and in complete confidence. There is no obligation to leave us a gift.

In Memorium donations

Donations are often given to charities in memory of someone who has recently died, sometimes instead of flowers at funerals.

If you would like Guild Care to receive a donation in this way, you can also mention this in your Will.
