Guild Care welcomed volunteers from Worthing REAC (Radio Emergency Activated Communications) to Methold House on Tuesday 6 April for a cheque presentation of £1,000 for the Healthy Living Programme Appeal. The group were given a tour the Healthy Living Centre by Kim Randall and were shown how the programme improves older people's wellbeing and independence.
The money raised was one of four £1,000 donations that REAC is making to local charities this year. The non-profit making group, who are all volunteers, provide marshalling at road races, fun runs and carnivals as well as safety and security cover at fireworks and fetes.
Lynne Kennedy, REAC's secretary, who also works in our Home Care Team, said 'With health and safety requirements becoming even stricter, a lot of event organisers are unable to hold their events without marshalling groups like us to help them. We cover Worthing Harriers events, St Barnabas Fun Run, Parham Garden Weekend and Worthing Carnival.
