Worthing-based companies Splash FM and Saywell International presented their latest ‘Helping Hands’ cash award to our Ashdown Centre in December.‘Helping Hands’ was launched last summer, with the aim of supporting the local charities, groups and organisations who help give our kids the best start in life. The initiative could provide funding for anything from new equipment or improved facilities through to a special project or group trip.
The award has helped fund Ashdown’s Christmas celebrations to the tune of around £750, for the hiring of a DJ, craft materials to help make decorations, party food and presents for each of the ninety children attending parties during this week.
Saywell International Managing Director, Peter Saywell, said ‘choosing a winner from the applications is never an easy task, but this application really stood out. This is an organisation close to my heart, and it’s really nice to be able to support the centre, particularly at this time of year. Peter Saywell attended one of the parties on 20 December in person to see the difference the award makes.
Charlotte Brackley, Manager of the Ashdown Centre, said ‘these parties are always put together on a very limited budget, and are always very hard to fundraise specifically for. It’s really lovely that we have the opportunity to give the children some really nice presents this year. This cash award made a huge difference to us.’
