The charity auction held at the GreenHouse in Meadow Road, East Worthing on Saturday 16 April raised £1,800 for Guild Care. There were 160 lots in all ranging from a 1950’s Rocking Horse to a pair of Clarice Cliff plates.
Over 50 people registered to bid and they certainly picked up some wonderful bargains. Items that drew the most interest were an Aneroid Barometer that went for £50 and a box of old books at £59.
A painting by Bryan Senior went for just £35 and piece of wood from HMS Victory was a snip at £16.
The art sale held at Guild Care’s Rustington shop on Thursday 14 April raised over £700. Fran Tuppen, Manager at Rustington said ‘The art sale last night was a huge success! We took £615 in just over two hours (we were still selling at 8.15pm. We actually had a queue forming at 5.15 yesterday and our customers are all saying what a lovely evening it was.’
The paintings had been donated to the shop by a local artist and collector and there were over 130 separate pictures, photographs and prints in all mediums and sizes with some from the 1800s.
