The team of Cavalier spaniels was formed in 2002 by Dee Phillips and friends, based in West Sussex. They certainly proved that small fluffy dogs can be as obedient and intelligent as any larger breed on Friday afternoon at Worthing's Healthy Living Centre for older people. The Clever Cavaliers, as they are known, performed infront of forty elderly people and staff who said they were just so 'charming and delightful'. The dogs are either registered as Pat Dogs or Canine Care Dogs and are frequently in demand for exhibitions at local day centres raising money for the Southern Cavalier Welfare.
The dogs played hide-and-seek in and out of a basket, rang bells, opened doors, performed agility tests and were very entertaining. There was even a deaf dog who reacted to hand signals!
