Charity Shop opened by Tina Cook

06-Oct-2010

Guild Care’s Patron Tina Cook galloped back to Goring-by-Sea  to open the charity’s sixth shop at 10 Goring Road on Wednesday 6 October. Tina was joined by Trustees, senior management, staff, volunteers and customers on what was a glorious autumn afternoon.

Tina had flown back from Kentucky the previous night having been part of the British 3 Day Eventing Team who won gold at the World Championships. Tina said ‘It’s fabulous. We knew we had a strong team but you always need a bit of luck on your side.’

Tina, from Findon, said she was now turning her attention to the 2012 Olympics as ‘horses only have a certain amount of competitions at this level and I want to get it right for London.’

Tina has been Guild Care Patron for just over a year and enjoys supporting a local charity with an impressive approach to care for older people, carers and children with special needs.

Jonathan Bishop, Retail Manager for the charity said ‘the staff and volunteers worked very hard to get the shop open on time and we were thrilled with the amount of interest it created in the first couple of hours.’ The shop sells good quality furniture, jewellery, toys, books, electrical, bric-a-brac and welcomes good quality donations and unwanted gifts. If people have large items to donate they can ring 01903 205303 and these will be collected free of charge locally. All donated items can be gift aided – just ask for a form in the shop as this helps Guild Care raise even more to help fund their caring services for older people, carers and children with special needs.

The charity also supplies furniture directly to people in need or crisis and discounts are available at their GreenHouse Store in East Worthing for people on benefits. For more details visit www.guildcare.org.
