On Friday 29th May the Green Candle Dance Company performed ‘Falling About’ at the Healthy Living Centre for Older People in Worthing.
The production for older audiences is on its second nation wide tour and uses the company’s mix of humour, choreographic invention, colourful design and original music to explore the issues and emotions that arise from falling. The story explores the ups and downs of Ruby’s life through dance from birth to her later years when she even makes a zimmer frame look sexy.
The show was followed by an exercise and movement workshop for older people, based on songs and music from the performance, and led by the performers. Such exercise is especially valuable in preventing falls in older people by helping them to retain muscle strength and balance.
Healthy Living Services Manager Kim Randall said “It was a lively and very enjoyable event and one which has already encouraged several participants to think about joining in one of the Healthy Living Centre’s exercise classes.”
