Local charity Guild Care launched a scheme in January where you can Gift Aid your shop donations. This enables the organisation to claim back the tax on the sale of your unwanted furniture, bric-a-brac, books and other household items and will help them raise even more money to support their services for older people and carers locally.
This is a very easy scheme for donors who can drop in their items to any of the Guild Care shops or to the GreenHouse. You just complete a simple Gift Aid form giving you a special number and you will be given a Gift Aid ID card to use at any of their shops with a unique donor number. You just need to bring the card with you any time you donate items.
On all your donated items a sticker will be applied with your donor number. Once your items have sold we inform you how much they have raised and, with your permission we will then treat the money raised as a donation and reclaim the tax from HM Revenue and Customs.
It’s very easy and Guild Care hopes it will increase the amount their shops take over a year making your donations much more valuable. You can become a Gift Aid donor if you are a UK taxpayer and you pay an annual amount of income or capital gains tax at least equal to the amount of tax we can reclaim.
Guild Care shops can be found at Rowlands Road, Worthing; The Strand, Goring; The Street, Rustington; the GreenHouse, Meadow Road, East Worthing and Broadwater Street West, Broadwater.
A free collection for large pieces of furniture is available between Shoreham and Rustington. Please ring 01903 205303 for details.
