Battling through torrential rain and strong winds, sixteen teams of local businesses raised over £6,400 in our 20th Annual Golf Challenge at Worthing Golf Club on Friday 17 June, with all proceeds going to our Ashdown Club for children and young people with special needs. The Golf Challenge was launched by Worthing’s Mayor Ann Barlow and organised by Trustee Peter Kennard and Vernon Cook, a keen supporter of the charity and professional caddie whose father first started the Golf Challenge twenty years ago.
After an exciting but soggy match, players enjoyed a sit-down dinner, prize raffle and a charity auction. Suzanne Millard said ‘We owe huge thank you to our sponsors Southern Water, Euromotive and the Indigo Restaurant at the Ardington Hotel. Everyone at Guild Care appreciates the support we receive from local businesses and our suppliers for their time and generosity.’

Chartered accountants and tax advisers Carpenter Box triumphed over some of the worst conditions we have ever seen at the Challenge to win. Charlie Eve, of the winning team said ‘Carpenter Box have attended Guild Care's golf challenge for many years and we're delighted to have won this year's event. Even though the weather was rather wet and windy it didn't spoil the day and we are very pleased to have played our part in raising funds for Guild Care's Ashdown Centre. We look forward to getting the chance to defend our crown next year!’Pictured above are Carpenter Box team with CEO Suzanne Millard; Guild Care team and, at the top, Worthing's Mayor Ann Barlow with the Fundraising Team, Vernon Cook and Trustee Peter Kennard.
