Chris Hare's latest book 'Worthing Under Attack' at only £6.50 is an ideal Christmas present for history buffs and those interested in local history.
The book recounts the fascinating and enthralling account of how ordinary people coped with the impact of the Great Depression in the 1930s and then the dangers of war in the 1940s. Chris Hare said 'This lively account draws heavily on oral history interviews, conducted with people who were living in Worthing at the time. There is a great deal of 'new history' here including material shedding new light on activities in Worthing of the British Union of Fascists and the left-wing Unemployed Workers Movement.' It also includes contemporary accounts of life in Worthing in the 1930s, seen through the ever vigilant columnists.
The book has been produced with the proceeds of 'Through the Hard Times and the Good' published in 2009 and the sales of both books will be put towards a reminiscence project .
Worthing Under Attack is on sale for £6.50 in all Guild Care shops, the reception at the Healthy Living Centre, North Street, Worthing and at Worthing libraries.
