At Linfield, Guild Care's care home with nursing, Wykeham Road, Worthing residents enjoyed a performance by Sussex musicians New Harmonie courtesy of funding from the Henry Smith Charity.
Led by Geoff Richardson, the quartet demonstrated their instruments - the flute, oboe, bassoon and clarinet to residents before playing some favourite tunes from composers such as George Gershwin and Scott Joplin. Activity co-ordinator Jenni Brown encouraged residents in some gentle exercises and it wasn't long before toes were tapping and hands clapping to classic tunes such as the Sailor's Hornpipe and the Washington Post.
Geoff Richardson's good humour and sense of fun was appreciated by all as he talked about Glenn Miller and being part of a big band.
New Harmonie finished with some wartime favourites which everyone knew and joined in with such as Run Rabbit Run. Linfield's residents thoroughly enjoyed New Harmonie's performance particularly as they were able to truly appreciate the skills of the musicians being in such close proximity.
