During a visit to Guild Care, Worthing’s largest charity, East Worthing and Shoreham MP Tim Loughton proved he was a natural communicator with older people. The MP met older people at the Healthy Living Centre for older people and carers at Methold House. He joked with a table of gentlemen who were all seated together for lunch and spoke to Pearl Hardie who is 101 next month before joining other service users for lunch. He was given a tour of the centre by Suzanne Millard, Chief Executive and Jill Lancaster, Healthy Living Services Manager and discussed support in the community with Outreach Manager Luc Harvengt.

After lunch he visited Linfield care and nursing home in Wykeham Road and spoke to residents and staff in the dementia suite before joining another group for a brief song. The visit finished at Irene House, one of the charity’s older homes near Tarring village where he spoke to residents enjoying a keen game of scrabble and regular volunteer Bill Marshall.

In August, Tim Loughton found time to visit the charity’s Ashdown Centre which provides short breaks for children and young people with special needs.
Chief Executive Suzanne Millard said ‘We were really pleased to show Tim the many ways in which we support older people and carers in the community and talk about our work with people with dementia. We also appreciated his time in August when he visited our Ashdown Centre which provides short breaks for children and young people with special needs.’
