Pearl Hardie celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and staff at Guild Care’s Healthy Living Centre for older people on Tuesday 5 October. The centre was decorated with pink and white flags and balloons and Pearl was presented with a huge birthday cake and lots of cards.‘Pearl’s active mind and sense of fun remains with her today and she is really popular with other service users and staff’ said Julia Johnson, Guild Care’s Communications Manager. Pearl attends the centre twice a week and is picked up by Guild Care's minibuses.
Pearl has been a service user at the centre for 15 years enjoying cards, dominoes, bingo and, up until recently regular exercise classes. She has recently recovered from having a hip replacement after being knocked down by a car on the way to the hairdressers. Following weeks of convalescence she said ‘I am hoping to return home this week.’
