The Ashdown Quiz, the first of many Durrington Festival events really was a quiz with a difference. Held in aid of Guild Care’s Ashdown Club Appeal for children with disabilities, this was a brilliant fundraising evening at the Ye John Seldon public house. The event tested everyone’s knowledge, creativity and senses with the world’s first ever Cheese Bingo game piloted on an unsuspecting crowd.
Jo Tuck, Community Fundraising Manager for Guild Care said after the event; 'The support for this event has been amazing! Pete Fijalkowski & Ben Salter have put so much time, effort and energy into developing this ever-so-slightly wacky event and all our thanks and praise go to them. But most of all we thank the public for buying tickets and really getting into the spirit of the evening plus the John Seldon for use of their function room and the Durrington Festival organisers. We exceeded our fundraising expectations by raising £450!'
Ben Salter said 'My wife and I are so very grateful for the work that the staff do at the Ashdown Club and we know that despite the difficulties with securing sustainable funds, their focus is always 100% on the children and families they work with … any family who receives support from Ashdown are very lucky indeed.'
