VolunteerAwardsJan2011.wmv Guild Care held a party and awards ceremony for volunteers on Sunday 23 January at Methold House, North Street, Worthing. Around 60 volunteers attended the event which was themed on the 1960s and included a special buffet and cream tea.
Volunteer Manager, Jo Tuck, welcomed everyone and said ‘It’s always quite humbling to be in the presence of so many loyal and dedicated volunteers. Every one of our 250 vols are special to us and although they modestly shy away from formal recognition, this small gesture is just one way we can show our thanks and appreciation.’
Roger Davies who has volunteered for Guild Care for 20 years received a special presentation along with a 20 year service badge and certificate. Roger first volunteered as a minibus driver in 1990 and enjoyed ferrying service users to and from Methold House for many years. Over the past five years he has helped the PR & Communications team, keeping their log of newspaper and magazine cuttings up-to-date each week.
Marjorie Zoutewelle who volunteers at the charity shop in the Strand, Goring-by-Sea received a presentation for 10 years service and other volunteers were given awards for 5 and 3 years service.
The afternoon included a fun 1960s music quiz including ‘name that tune’ and ‘which artist’ organised by Percy Nowell, another wonderful volunteer.
