Volunteering at Guild Care

Volunteers at Guild Care play a unique role in the delivery of the majority of our services. The contribution of volunteers often means that we are able to provide a range of additional services that are greatly welcomed by our service users. The support of volunteers often provides that ‘added care’ which reinforces Guild Care’s core values

Volunteer Roles
Guild Care has a wide range of volunteer roles and whatever your background or skills, we will be happy to consider ways in which you can volunteer for the organisation. Take a look at our current vacancies to see the types of volunteer roles that we have in the organisation.. If you feel that you have skills and talents that are not covered by these roles, please don’t be put off. Our Volunteer Co-ordinator will be more than happy to talk with you and offer advice on the best placement for you. Click on the pictures above to find out what our volunteers have to say! Training
In recognising the added value that volunteers bring to services, Guild Care seeks to ensure that as a volunteer you are provided with the support, training your need for your role.

All volunteers have access to our full training programme free of charge and are encouraged to attend minimum basic training including:

Getting to Know
Guild Care

Manual Handling
Health and Safety
However we also recognise that your time is valuable so wherever practical we will offer ‘on the job’ training to minimise the amount of time you need to commit to your role.
Supporting You in Your Volunteering
Trial Sessions
If you would like to volunteer, but are not sure what the role involves, you can come along for a trial session in the relevant service unit, to see whether it is something you would like to do.
Volunteer Recruitment
When you apply to us to become a volunteer, we will match your application against the specific role you have chosen to apply for. If this is successful we will invite you along to attend an interview with the Service Manager. If you both wish to go ahead , we will then take up two references, and if applicable a Criminial Records Bureau check. Although we would like to get you started as soon as possible, because of the various things we have to do before you start, there may be a delay between your interview and the day you begin your volunteering.
Probation and Induction
All volunteers are recruited on a three-month induction and probationary period.

During this time you will be given plenty of opportunity to access training and information relevant to your new role. All Managers work closely with new volunteers to ensure that they successfully complete their probationary periods.

Expenses
Volunteers will be paid any appropriate expenses they may incur whilst volunteering for Guild Care.
