Guild Care charity shops were among those targeted by heartless burglars over the weekend.

Two of our shops on Goring Road and Rowlands Road were broken into, tills were vandalised (no cash taken) and collection boxes were stolen.

Guild Care staff are now working closely with the police following the incident.

Goring Road has since re-opened, but the Rowlands Road charity shop is still closed (as of Monday 9th March) until the police carry out an inspection.

Adam Rider, our Director of Retail, said: “We are shocked that someone has deliberately targeted charity shops. The staff, volunteers and our regular customers are all very upset. This disruption means one of our shops has had to close so we will lose vital funds which go towards the running of our community services. We hope the local community will continue to support and shop with us.”

Each year we must raise an additional £500,000 to run our community services. Our charity shops help contribute to that. We run 11 charity shops in and around Worthing and the local area, including the Greenhouse and a Littlehampton superstore that was opened in October 2019.
