17th March 2020

As a resident or relative of an individual living in a Guild Care home an information sheet was circulated to you about the Coronavirus and the action, Guild Care are taking. I am sure for everyone it is a worrying time and I wanted to reassure you that Guild Care has robust plans in place.

To minimise the risk of infection we have reviewed the homes visiting policy and asked visitors who are feeling unwell, have COVID-19, or have recently returned from one of the infected countries not to visit the home. Visitors have been reminded of the importance of washing their hands frequently and hand sanitisation is available.

As a care home provider, Guild Care understands that some care homes have closed to visitors and our decision not to may be causing some anxiety. Guild Care continues to follow the guidance provided by the Government and Public Health England and will remain open to visitors until we are advised not to. We understand seeing friends and families has a positive impact on our residents’ lives and any period of prolonged closure is likely to affect their well-being.

Although we hope to remain open for as long as possible, we recognise that Government guidance is changing daily, and we may need to close the home to visitors. During any period of closure every effort will be made to increase the well-being provision in the home, and we have introduced Skype facilities so that residents can keep in touch with friends and family. We recognise the upset this will cause and will do our best to minimise the distress.

Please be assured that Guild Care will proactively respond to this challenge and will keep you informed at all times of any changes to service levels.

Yours sincerely,

Debbie Dollner

Chief Operating Officer
