Local businessmen Peter Kennard and Derek Steel presented Guild Care with a cheque for the money that they have raised this year: an astounding £13,687.

Together as ‘D & P Fundraising’, Peter of HD Tribe and Derek of Jacobs Steel have supported Guild Care for 13 years in a row. Between them they have raised over £200,000 overall. Every year the pair raises money through two events: the ‘Not the New Year’s Eve Ball’ and a St George’s Day luncheon.

This year’s glamourous 80s themed ball raised £5,537. The event, held at Worthing Golf Club, saw 120 people enjoy welcome drinks, an ‘All things 80’s’ three-course dinner, a fundraising auction, a casino, and music from cover band Synthony 101.

The pair’s St George’s Day luncheon raised an incredible £8,150. The sold-out event took place at the The Ardington Hotel’s Indigo Restaurant in Worthing. The luncheon was attended by 130 people, including former Brighton & Hove Albion player Gordon Smith who was the special guest speaker.

Peter said: “Huge thanks as always to the many people who have supported our events. We rely on individuals and businesses to donate auction items and then our guests to be incredibly generous when bidding for them, so thanks to everyone. We are already planning the 14th Not the New Year’s Eve Ball to be held on January 11th 2020.”

Suzanne Millard, Guild Care’s CEO, commented: “The support we have received from Peter and Derek is just fantastic. The funds raised from these events will go a long way in helping over 3,000 local children and adults through our 30 plus community services. We are so grateful for Peter and Derek’s generous and continued support in helping to keep these services running.”
