Local restaurant The Dining Room has raised £700 for Guild Care through its monthly ‘Food & Drink Quiz’.

The quiz was launched by the restaurant in 2019. Teams taking part enjoy games such as ingredient taste testing, food themed word and picture quizzes, a wine tasting, and naming (or guessing) the ingredients featured in a selection of delicious dishes. On top of this, there is a buffet, so everyone taking part leaves well and truly stuffed.

The Dining Room presented the cheque to Cllr Paul Baker, a Guild Care Trustee, at last week’s quiz. Jean De Rien, The restaurant’s owner and Head Chef, said: “We love to find new and enjoyable ways to raise funds for our charity partners, and the Food & Drink Quiz was a great way to share our knowledge and love of food in a fun way that makes money for Guild Care.”

The event will continue this year, running every second Thursday of the month from 12th March. The entry price of £14 a head covers the food and wine costs, a buffet and a £4 donation to Guild Care.

Guild Care’s Community Fundraising Officer, Auds Stapleton, said: “Our sincere thanks to Jean, Ro and the team at The Dining Room for supporting us again this year. It’s such a fun and innovative evening and we are hugely appreciative for the money raised that helps support our community services.”
