Companies and residents of Worthing have donated thousands of pounds to our Worthing Cares Christmas appeal.

Bacon & Company, Micawber Lettings, and Carpenter Box have joined ETI and Worthing’s branch of Waitrose in donating to the campaign. Additionally, individual support is being donated via a JustGiving web page: www.justgiving.com/campaign/worthingcares2020.

The money raised will be used to purchase and fill hampers for those that use our charity’s services who would otherwise be alone over the holiday period. The hampers will be delivered, along with much-needed socially distanced doorstep chats, by a team of over 70 volunteers who have already rallied around the cause.

Amanda Tucker, Guild Care’s Director of Fundraising, said: “Despite the difficult times we find ourselves in, Worthing has once again shown its generosity. Thank you. We are so, so grateful to the community and local companies for supporting the Worthing Cares campaign. The money raised will help us brighten the Christmases of so many people who, sadly will find themselves spending the holidays alone.”

Julie Moon, who will be receiving a hamper, said: “Without Guild Care, Christmas Day for me this year would be just like any other day, nothing really to look forward to and no one to speak to – just the television for company.

“I know it’s silly but now I know that on Christmas day this year Guild Care has arranged for someone to visit me to drop off a little gift – well it’s just given me hope. It’s a beacon of light in what has been a really dark time.”
