Ashdown Session Leader Job Title Ashdown Session Leader Unit Ashdown (Learning Disabilities) Responsible To Ashdown Service Manager Responsible For Support Workers Salary Monday – Friday £12.08 Saturday £12.68 Sunday £13.29 Hours of Work 9am – 16.30pm every other Saturday – flexibility required during school holidays Role Category Front Line Leader Job Requirements Essential Proven experience and a passion for supporting adults and children with learning disabilities and other complex needs to live life to the full Good understanding of the needs of adults and children with learning disabilities and other complex needs and their carers Ability to support the managers to lead and manage a range of community services for adults and children with learning disabilities, and other additional needs, ensuring that service models are shaped around the needs and desires of people who use services Knowledge of current legislation and codes of practice, when providing services for people with learning disabilities Ability to administer medication (training will be provided) Demonstrates effective communication skills and an ability to work in partnership with a range of different people, both internally and externally Experience of working in the social care sector Is authentically warm, genuine, trustworthy, honest, reliable, consistent and caring in all their actions and able to support and promote this culture within Guild Care Excellent IT, literacy and numeracy skills Willingness to acquire and maintain relevant qualifications and skills for the role Ability to travel Satisfactory DBS check Desirable Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children with learning and physical disabilities, complex health needs, and autism, and their carers Knowledge of local services for children with learning disabilities Understanding of safeguarding, mental capacity and deprivation of liberty safeguards Experience of working in a day service setting The ability to manage rotas and cover staff absence in the absence in the manager Knowledge of Makaton sign language Relevant professional qualification (EG NVQ, QCF) Job Purpose To act as Session Leader at the Ashdown Centre and Guild Care sites. To help ensure that the Ashdown Centre is a safe, stimulating and a well-presented environment for all its users. To support the Manager in the daily running of the Centre To be a positive role model for staff and an ambassador for Guild Care Main Duties Support and have input in the development of new services to support families’ needs. To attend to service user or visitor queries and enquiries in a caring and helpful manner and with a commitment to dealing with the issue in a positive way To liaise with parents or carers when leading sessions to agree care plans including medical procedures to be followed for individual children. All relevant information to be passed to the manager. To maintain accurate and up to date electronic and handwritten records for customers and staff, including care plans, risk assessments, medication records, seizure records and behaviour charts To support with managing bookings and allocation of sessions to children and young people attending the service. To support and develop involvement by young people and parents in shaping services. To ensure that medication is administered safely To support with the successful delivery of contracts from statutory partners, to ensure accurate reporting and monitoring of contract outcomes To report any incidents, premises or equipment issues and user feedback to the Ashdown Manager. To ensure that all feedback, including complaints, compliments, and suggestions are encouraged, recorded, reported to the Manager and used to improve the service. To enable children to express their views, by involving them in making informed choices about their lives and decisions that affect them. To support with ensuring that the Ashdown services meet the required inspection standards for Ofsted To contribute to service quality monitoring and audits, to ensure lessons are learned and the service continues to improve To ensure that the building and its environment is well maintained and kept clean, comfortable and safe.
