It offers stimulating, fun sessions (for at least 6 hours per month) for more than 100 families in Worthing and its surrounding areas. Our highly trained and experienced staff provide a caring and safe environment for children with a wide range of needs, such as physical, developmental, educational, sensory, behavioural or psychological - including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome and ADHD. Who can use it the Ashdown Youth Club? The Ashdown Youth Club is available to teenagers aged from 12 - 18 years old with a disability or additional needs. When is it? Every Wednesday evening from 6pm - 9pm First Sunday of every month from 10am - 4pm What do we offer? The sessions offers a themed, structured activity with opportunities for socialisation and accessing age appropriate activities as well as short breaks of respite for parents and carers. The young people who attend choose all the activities themselves including at least one outing every month. Parents and carers can pick and choose sessions every three months. The sessions operate on a first come, first served basis, with twelve places available each session. Fees and funding Families are eligible to access short breaks funded services if they receive (or would be eligible if applied) for the middle or high rate care component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA). Self-Assessment forms are available from Ashdown Centre on request if you do not already receive DLA. This service is supported by West Sussex County Council funding and other generous sponsors enabling these special days to generally be available at no extra cost to families other than the standard session fee. "Ashdown Youth Group enables us as a family to have more quality time, in the happy knowledge that our daughter is having a fantastic evening with her peer group and lovely carers. Dropping our daughter off gives us such a lovely feeling of normality, and when we pick her up later she always has the biggest smile! Having somewhere that caters for her needs, and is fun and accessible, has made Ashdown a real part of our lives."
