Heidi Maling has been working at Guild Care for four years. She recently sat down with us and talked about her role and career progression.

What did you do before you started work at Guild Care?

Earlier on in my career I was an International PA (Personnel Assistant) for GSK. Following this I was a full time Mum. I then worked for an individual in their home, which led into a care role as her conditions worsened, this lasted for 8 years.

How long have you been working at Guild Care? What three words would you use to describe your role?

I have worked for Guild Care for 4 years. I started my time at Guild Care working one night a week learning to become a carer whilst looking after my private patient. I wanted to ensure I had quality training as her condition was worsening. I chose Guild Care having researched online, I felt I would be safe and supported at a larger organisation.

Three words to describe my current role:

  • Rewarding
  • Empathetic
  • Enlightening

Can you see your career developing at Guild Care?

Yes, I joined as Care Assistant, then went onto complete my Administration of Medicines. I am currently studying NVQ Level 3 and hope to progress to a senior carer on nights once the opportunity arises.

As someone with a mature attitude I am particularly supportive of the younger members in my team.

Would you recommend Guild Care to other job seekers? Why?

Yes, overall, I would definitely recommend. The Care Homes are beautiful, we have everything we need to do our jobs properly. I work in a good team; we have a close bond. We work together really well!

Anything else you would like to add?

I am particularly thankful for all the COVID measures, I have felt really protected and looked after. I work in a good team which is really supportive.
