Christmas should be a time for family, for being with loved ones or friends, but hundreds and thousands of older people are lonely and cut off from their community.

Older people are especially vulnerable to loneliness and can become socially isolated for a variety of reasons, including leaving work, getting older and weaker, through disability and illness or the death of a spouse.

That is why we offer our Friendship Club, a social gathering for over 70s, where older people can spend time with their peers over tea and cake or enjoy a two-course lunch together, as well as take part in exercise groups, quizzes, crafts and enjoy afternoon entertainment with live musicians, sing-a-longs and dancing.

We also believe no-one should be alone, especially at special times in the year like Christmas, which is why we host Christmas lunches in the build up to the big day, inviting choirs and bands in for some great entertainment over a glass of sherry.

When the 25th comes around, it’s no different, with our annual traditional Christmas Day lunch hosted at our Bradbury Wellbeing Centre for older people, ensuring anyone who would otherwise be alone on the day has a friendly place to go.

So, if you or a loved one are looking for a good company, an opportunity to try something different or just want to pop in for lunch and some afternoon entertainment, then come along to our Friendship Club.
