Preened to perfection and ready to please, Fidget the pony visited our Bradbury Wellbeing Centre with his owners, Sophie and Georgie, bringing joy to all members.

The crowd-pleasing miniature Shetland pony was greeted with excitement as members were able to stroke the rescued animal.

Fidget, who stands at just 36 inches tall, was happy to be centre of attention as everyone, including staff, flocked to him.

Pets as therapy can bring comfort and affection to people living with dementia and its benefits can include improving moods, having a calming effect and helping increase social interaction with others, which is why pets are often welcomed within our charity’s services.

This ‘pony therapy’ even extended to family members from our adjoining specialist dementia care home, Haviland House, who were also eager to meet the pretty pony.  

Session Leader, Sarah Johnson, said: “It was fantastic to have Fidget the pony come to visit us at Bradbury, we were all very excited to introduce something new to the centre.

“The members were full of smiles and some very special moments were created. Fidget was perfectly behaved, and I have no hesitation welcoming Fidget, Sophie and Georgie back in the summer.”
