Guild Care has a long and varied history since it was first established in 1933. Here are some key dates of interest.

  • 1943 Opened our first care home
  • 1958 Opened our first day centre for older people
  • 1963 Launched our community transport scheme
  • 1970s Opened our sheltered housing scheme at Dolphin Court, Shelley Road
  • 1970s Opened our first charity retail shop
  • 1980s Caer Gwent, our care home in Downview Road, opened
  • 1990s Opened a hostel to support young people in finding employment – launch our Home Care service?
  • 1995 Changed our name to Guild Care
  • 1998 Ashdown our centre for children and young adults with disabilities and additional needs open
  • 2001 Our dementia care services started
  • 2003 The Guild Care Centre - day centre for older people – opens at Methold House, North Street, Worthing
  • 2006 Linfield House, care home opens in Wykeham Road, Worthing
  • 2008 We celebrated our 75th anniversary
  • 2014 Launched home from hospital, take home and settle, and relative support services with Age UK
  • 2015 Opened Haviland House, Worthing’s first purpose built care home dedicated to dementia care
  • 2018 Joined forces with local charity Worthing and Littlehampton District Scope
  • 2018 Marks our 85th anniversary
