An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Learning Disability Specialist Nurse to join Guild Care. We are looking for an RNLD with extensive experience of supporting individuals living with both profound learning disabilities and multiple physical health conditions. You will support staff with an outcome focused approach helping people to live their best lives.

This would suit a nurse with an interest in facilitating creative holistic solutions and a training pathway to support teams when faced with behaviours that challenge.

Job Requirements 

·             Registered Nurse Qualification (Learning Disabilities) and post qualification experience 

·             Proven experience of supporting children or adults with physical disabilities, chronic or life shortening conditions and other complex needs. 

·             Knowledge of current best practice in learning disability healthcare 

·             Knowledge of current legislation and codes of practice, when providing services for people with learning disabilities 

·             IT Literacy skills and an ability to use MS Office and databases. 

·             Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including an ability to talk to a range of different people, including children who use our service, relatives, staff, senior managers, Trustees and other professionals. 

·             Good written communication skills including basic report and letter writing. 

·             Ability to work as part of a team and establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, families and other professionals. 

·             Satisfactory DBS check 

Desirable 

·             Competency in a range of clinical skills (medication administration, gastrostomy feeding, management of seizures) with recent clinical practice 

·             Knowledge of NICE guidance and its application to practice 

·             Experience of assessing individual needs 

·             Experience with teaching staff, or families. 

·             Experience working in a range of care settings
