10th June 2019

Local mum Debbie May is urging others to join her family and friends in supporting Guild Care’s Walk for Worthing on Saturday 15th June.

To mark her 50th birthday, Debbie pledged to support five charities that have been instrumental in her life. Guild Care has helped May’s family through its Ashdown Centre, which provides respite care for families with children and young adults with learning disabilities and other complex needs.

Specifically, Debbie’s son Thomas has attended the Ashdown Centre since he was seven years old. He accesses their monthly service which enables him to take part in activities within the community with his peer group. The centre has been of help to everyone in the family, with Thomas’ brother and sister attending ‘Ashdown Siblings’ and Debbie and her husband receiving counselling. Issie, Thomas’ sister, now even volunteers on a weekly basis at Ashdown.

Debbie, who will be taking part in Walk for Worthing with Issie and five friends, said, “Whether you walk yourself or spare a pound or two to sponsor someone else, I know that it will make a huge difference to vulnerable people in our community.”

Those interested in the sunset walk on Saturday 15th June can find out more and register on Guild Care’s website, whilst those looking to support Debbie’s fundraising can visit her JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/debbie-may6
