Join Guild Care as a Maintenance Operative and be a vital part of our Estates and Buildings Team!

  • Location: Worthing - across all Guild Care sites
  • Hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. On-call duties approximately one week in five, with an additional on-call allowance.
  • Salary: £23,188 per annum + allowance of £123.00 per week when on-call

What is the role?

As a Maintenance Operative reporting to the Estates and Building Manager, you will be responsible for planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, and small works in a general maintenance capacity. Your role includes daily maintenance and repairs to Guild Care buildings, servicing and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment, and providing a day-to-day painting and decorating service.

Main Duties

  • Carry out planned maintenance, reactive maintenance, and small works.
  • Assist in daily maintenance and repairs to Guild Care buildings.
  • Service, order parts, and repair mechanical and electrical items.
  • Complete service reports, records, and PAT testing.
  • Perform domestic/light maintenance duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide a day-to-day painting and decorating service.
  • Ensure safe and effective work practices in line with Health & Safety and Guild Care policies.
  • Co-ordinate with the Maintenance Manager and Head of Estates Department.

What kind of person are we looking for? Essential candidate criteria

  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Check.
  • Possession of a driving license to transport equipment.
  • Experience in general maintenance duties.
  • Basic plumbing and carpentry skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide high standards of customer service.

Desirable candidate criteria

  • Experience of working with older people, preferably in a care setting.
  • Strong plumbing and electrical skills.
  • Efficient painting and decorating skills.
  • Strong carpentry background.
