Local charity Guild Care held its second Clay Pigeon Shoot Challenge supported by Southdown Gun Club, raising over £4,000.

Despite the cold weather, teams competed against each other, with the day starting with a bang and ending with champions, food and drink.

The main aim for the day, which was held on 5th April, apart from having fun and networking, was to raise much needed funds for Guild Care’s Ashdown Centre for children and young adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

Southdown Gun Club has been a part of the local community for over 30 years and the team wanted to show their support to both Guild Care and Ashdown by hosting this wonderful day of Clay Pigeon Shooting.

The charity’s Ashdown Centre offers a range of services that provide more than 100 families in Worthing and its surrounding areas, with much needed respite from caring for a child or young adult who has a learning disability or additional needs.

Caring for a child with complex disabilities means that parents have little or no rest time to themselves. Ashdown is quite literally a lifeline where they can support parents and allow them sometime to recharge their batteries and get some rest. They also work with siblings to give them some time and focus, with Ashdown’s aim being to bring families together with comfort, care, fun and support.

The event was kindly sponsored by Wall Bros Carpet & Flooring, Sherrards Employment Law Solicitors, MHA Carpenter Box, Vadtel Ltd, Coast to Coast Direct and C&O Tractors LTD.

Chris Coopey, Partner and Practice Director at accountancy and tax practice, MHA Carpenter Box said, “This was the first time that I had signed up to our team for Guild Care’s fantastic Clay Pigeon Shoot. I was encouraged to do so by colleagues who attended in previous years and they were not wrong! Along with the other competitors, the MHA Carpenter Box team had a fabulous day managing a creditable third in the competition. Our thanks go to the fundraising team of the amazing charity that is Guild Care, for putting together such a brilliant event and to the Southdown Gun Club and their very patient instructors for hosting the day.”

A well done goes to high gun winner David Buckland, flush winning team, Winners Events and the championing team on the day, OTTFIT, followed by Cold Shots in second place and MHA Carpenter Box in third.
