Service Manager for Creating Connections Location: Worthing - across all Guild Care sites Hours: 35 per week Salary: £29,752 per annum What is the role? Creating Connections is the flagship service at Guild Care. Its purpose is to provide activities, befriending and IAG for older people across Worthing. This role is key in supporting us to transform and grow this service, and the main responsibilities are: To support the implementation of Guild Care’s vision to enable 8000 older people to live fulfilling, safe and secure lives by 2027. To play a key role in networking with key stakeholders and other local providers, to understand local needs and identify opportunities to expand and develop new services. To lead and motivate a team of staff to ensure Creating Connections is person-centred, of high quality, easy to access and delivered with love and respect. To act as a positive role model for staff and ambassador for Guild Care Main Duties · To be accountable for the day-to-day management of the service, including meeting targets, ensuring adequate staffing levels, and the supervision, appraisal, induction and training of staff and volunteers · To lead and motivate a team, to plan and deliver a varied programme of one to one and group activities that will reduce social isolation and social stigma. · To ensure that services are delivered to the highest possible standards, meeting their contractual and regulatory requirements. · To contribute to service quality monitoring and audits, to ensure lessons are learned and services continues to improve. · To build and maintain effective relationships with customers, relatives, carers, internal colleagues, commissioners, and other professionals. · To promote and market services to potential customers and their relatives, other agencies and ensure that appropriate links are developed with other Guild Care Services · To ensure all staff and volunteers are trained and competent to carry out their role. · To ensure that budgetary and service targets are both developed and met. · To enable individuals to express their views, by guiding staff to involve customers in making informed choices about their lives and decisions that affect them. · To maintain accurate and up to date electronic and handwritten records for individuals and staff, including support plans, risk assessments, and rostering · To ensure that staff carry out an assessment of needs and risks for all new referrals, enabling staff to develop accurate, well-informed information to safely meet each individual’s needs and that records are maintained and updated as required. · To work in partnership with the fundraising team and senior managers, to identify new funding streams and submit bids for grants, to enable current services to be maintained or expanded, and new services to be developed to meet unmet need. · To facilitate monthly team meetings and encourage staff attendance. · To facilitate monthly Progress Performance Conversations · To be responsible for safeguarding referrals in a timely manor · To participate in regular health & safety inspections, to ensure Creating Connections complies with health and safety requirements. · Responsible for delivering the service improvement plan. · To contribute to monitoring, evaluating and reporting on performance by collating data and contributing to reports which evidence the outcomes for people who use our services. · To attend the quarterly Health and Safety Committee meetings or nominate a member of the team. · To ensure Guild Care and Creating Connections is represented within the community by liaising and networking with partner agencies across the third and statutory sectors. · To ensure that all feedback, including Complaints, Compliments, and Suggestions, are encouraged, recorded, reported to the Head of Older Peoples Services and used to improve the service. · To ensure that all staff and volunteers understand and adhere to Guild Care policies and procedures. · To take part in providing the out of hours on-call service on a rotational basis · To carry out any other duties as may be appropriate and required to enhance the work of Guild Care and the lives of the people we support. Do you meet the following criteria? Essential Proven experience and a passion for supporting people aged 65 and over. Good understanding of the needs of older people and the issues they face. Ability to lead and manage a team of staff and volunteers to develop services and activities for older people. IT Literacy skills and an ability to use MS Office and databases. Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including an ability to talk to a range of different people and levels. Good written and verbal communication skills, including report and letter writing. Budget management skills Experience of managing rotas and covering staff absence Ability to set and monitor appropriate standards of behaviour and act as a positive role model and ambassador for Guild Care Ability to plan and organise workloads effectively. Ability to acquire and maintain relevant qualifications and skills for the role. Ability to travel in and around the Worthing area and to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service (including working evenings and weekends when required) Satisfactory DBS check Understanding of safeguarding, mental capacity and deprivation of liberty safeguards or a willingness to be trained. Desirable Experience of working in the health, social care or education sector Experience of community development Experience of working within the voluntary sector Knowledge of current legislation and codes of practice, when providing services for vulnerable people Experience of working with volunteers Relevant professional qualification Why Guild Care?
