Creating Connections is a prevention service for those aged 65 and over. It aims to reduce loneliness and isolation in Worthing through companionship, shared interests, and community participation. It is hoped, that by reducing social isolation and loneliness, we can contribute to supporting people to remain living independently, for as long as possible.

The service provides a volunteer led range of Worthing based opportunities and activities co-designed by people aged 65+ for people aged 65+. Specifically, it includes:

  • One-to-one befriending and companionship via the phone, in the community, or in people’s homes.
  • Weekly face-to-face group activities, such as seated exercise, music, photography, quizzes, and book clubs.
  • Monthly social events, including Sunday lunch and Saturday Social events at the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre.

We are seeking a Service Manager to join our Creating Connections team to support Guild Care’s vision of enabling older people to live fulfilling, safe, and secure lives by providing them with accessible, effective, and loving services. In this role, you will be responsible for the operational delivery of the Creating Connections Service, leading and motivating the team to deliver high quality services for older people. It will be your responsibility to develop a network of key stakeholders and other local providers so you can identify opportunities for expansion and new service development.

Job Requirements


Essential
• Proven experience supporting older people living in the community
• A minimum of 5 years management experience within a health, education or social care setting
• Relevant professional qualification (Minimum of an NVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care or Level 5 QCF Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care or equivalent)
• Knowledge of current best practice in supporting older people to live independently for as long as possible
• Knowledge of current legislation and codes of practice, applicable to services for older people
• IT Literacy skills and an ability to use MS Office and databases.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, including an ability to talk to a range of different people, including people who use our services, relatives, staff, senior managers, Trustees and other professionals.
• Good written communication skills including basic report and letter writing.
• Ability to set, monitor and review service budgets.
• Ability to represent Guild Care at network meetings, contract reviews etc
• Ability to work as part of a team and establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, families and other professionals.
• Satisfactory DBS check


Desirable
• Understanding of safeguarding, mental capacity and deprivation of liberty safeguards
• Experience of managing regulated services
• Experience of assessing needs and risks
• Understanding of the needs of carers
• Experience working in a range of care settings.
• Experience of working in the voluntary sector
