Meet Neil, he is part of our Haviland House - dementia care home - team. Here he gives an insight into his role...

Speaking about the favourite part of his role he said:

"Knowing my contribution has made a real difference to the enjoyment of our family member's day. It is hugely satisfying to see moments like these and I feel privileged to spend time in the company of an extraordinary generation."

So what is it like to work at Haviland House?

"The days can be long and demanding, but I always start the day in a positive mood. It's hard not to become emotionally invested in their world and to develop a close bond with them and their visitors."

What qualities do you need to work at Haviland House?

"Be authentic: just be yourself.

Be outgoing: leave your inhibitions at the door.

Be adaptable: try a different approach if one doesn't work at first.

Be emotionally open: do not be afraid to show how you are feeling."
