We have 11 charity shops across the Worthing area which are run by Guild Care and Worthing Scope staff and a team of dedicated volunteers. We couldn't run our shops without the help of our amazing volunteers.

Profits from our charity shops go towards the running of our 30+ community service.

So if you have a few hours spare and would like to help make a difference to your local community then why not volunteer at one of our shops. Our volunteers range from 14 to over 80 so age is no restriction!

What our volunteers say

Lauren decided to volunteer with us after leaving college

"I wasn’t sure what to do after leaving college so I thought it would be a good idea to volunteer for Guild Care to boost my CV. I do two days a week, using the till, tidying up, sorting the books and gift aid. I really like talking to the customers, It’s fun and I’m learning lots." Lauren, 18

Elaine has been a volunteer since she moved to the area having lived in Hove for over 30 years

"Once we’d settled into our new home I wanted and needed something to get involved with and I found Guild Care.  It was one of the best things I did finally walking in to the shop after passing by the board outside which said in big letters Volunteers needed! I love volunteering there and being part of a happy team.  I love talking to the customers, whether they spend 20p or £20, sending them away with a smile and a thank you is a special part of the role for me.  Through the shop I met another volunteer called Jenny and we have become quite good pals.  There is a lot you can give and get out of being a volunteer." Elaine

Even though Martin retired early and has a part-time job he still finds time to volunteer with Guild Care when he has a few spare hours

"I do a bit of everything really from answering the phone, till work, pricing goods, keeping the place tidy as well as making cups of coffee for staff! I’d really recommend volunteering to anyone. It’s a great atmosphere here, we all have a laugh and I just love interacting and chatting with the local customers, it’s just a nice place to be." Martin
