Get involved Volunteer Volunteer Minibus Drivers In order to run our wide range of services, we rely on Volunteer Drivers to take our minibuses in and around Worthing. They pick up people that use our services, bringing them to our centres and care homes, as well as taking them on days out. Our Volunteer Drivers are provided with full training and ongoing support. You do not need to have experience of driving a minibus, but should be a confident driver. Due to the terms of our insurance, our volunteer drivers need to be aged between 22 and 70 years old and should have held their driving licence for at least two years. If you are interested in driving for Guild Care, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator on [email protected] or use our online form. Could you help? No prior experience of driving minibuses is required as we will provide full training. If you are a confident driver and a people person, you could be just the person we are looking for. Please see below for the specific driving needs we have. The Fitzalan Howard Centre and Birkdale Centre The Fitzalan Howard Centre provides day and respite services for 36 adults with disabilities and more complex needs. The Birkdale Centre provides day and respites services for up to 12 adults with learning disabilities and more complex needs and their families. We are looking for a volunteer who can drive one of our minibuses to pick clients up from their homes, bring them to the centres, and then take them home at the end of the day. A carer will be on board the minibus to support our clients. If you have an understanding of the needs of adults with disabilities, this would be great, but it is not essential. The timings involved are 8.30am - 10am for a morning run and 3pm - 4.30pm for the afternoon. Butterfly Run: Bradbury Wellbeing Centre The Butterfly Club meets every Tuesday at our Bradbury Wellbeing Centre in Goring by Sea. This is a very caring, enhanced service which caters for people with dementia who have additional support needs. We are looking for a volunteer who can drive one of our minibuses to pick customers up from their homes, bring them to the Bradbury Wellbeing Centre, and then take them home at the end of the day. A carer will be on board the minibus to support our members. The timings involved are 10.30am - 12pm for a morning run and 4.30pm - 6pm for the afternoon. Lunchtime Deliveries: Linfield House and Dolphin Court We are looking for some volunteers who are available throughout the week to drive our smallest minibus to pick up meals from our Linfield House care home and deliver them to our Dolphin Court sheltered housing scheme. Help will be on hand at both sites for loading and unloading of the boxes. Driver’s Mate: Furniture Collection Guild Care runs a free furniture collection service throughout Worthing and its surrounding areas for larger donation items. ‘Driver’s Mate’ volunteers help our collection drivers with the handling of furniture, loading and unloading vans, and other general assistance. The volunteer will not need to drive. Given the physical nature of the role, we are looking for people aged 18+ who are fit and able to lift furniture safely and within our guidelines. If you are interested in volunteering to drive for Guild Care, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator on [email protected] or use our online form.
