Congratulations to Jo Burnell, who is a successful candidate for this year’s National Care Forum Rising Stars Programme.

The NCF Rising Stars Programme is an NCF initiative created to develop leadership skills through mentoring and learning opportunities. NCF members are invited to nominate managers and each year only ten are selected to participate in this unique programme.

Jo has also just become the Registered Manager at Haviland House. Jo said, “In May 2016, I became a Guild Care RN; shortly after in October 2017, I became Clinical Lead. There was a time when my family and I were moving to Wales and Chris Walton-Turner (Registered Manager) sat me down and said, ‘I think you would make a good manager at Haviland.’ I was shocked and I think at the time I said, ‘What me?’ I’m not sure whether he was serious, but here we are 18 months later, in the hot seat!

“I can’t thank everyone enough for all the support I have been given. I am very excited about being Haviland’s new manager and continuing the outstanding work Chris started. I look forward to leading the team to “Outstanding” overall and achieving a whole home Level 1 accreditation with Dementia Care Matters; so just a little bit of work to do!”
