Guild Care’s home care service celebrated positive feedback from the Care Quality Commission following a recent inspection which highlighted the difference its team of carers makes in the lives of people across the community.

The inspection found that the service placed people at the centre of their care plans, with staff building strong, respectful relationships and supporting independence in ways that reflected each person’s preferences and routines. Feedback gathered during the assessment described a service where people felt listened to and treated with dignity, and where care adapted as needs changed.

A blonde female carer gently leans forward to hand a cup of tea to an elderly woman seated in a cosy home setting, sharing a warm moment during a home care visit.

“The service was well-led, with a clear vision and values that were embedded across all levels of the organisation,” the report stated, adding that “There was a positive and inclusive culture which supported staff wellbeing, encouraged openness and promoted continuous learning.

Inspectors reported a culture where Guild Care’s team worked closely with the people they support and their families to understand what mattered most to them. This approach helps shape support that is both personal and practical, from day-to-day care to maintaining connections with the wider community.

The report also reflected positively on the consistency of care provided. People benefited from familiar faces and a team that understood their history and choices, helping to create reassurance at home. Staff were described as kind and attentive, taking time to engage with people beyond the immediate task at hand.

Leadership within the service was also recognised as a strength. There was a clear focus on continuous improvement, with feedback from people and staff actively encouraged and used to shape how the service developed. Systems were in place to monitor quality and safety, alongside a visible management team that supported colleagues in their roles.

Lacey Thomas, Head of Home Care, said: “We were proud that the report captured the commitment and dedication our whole team bring to their work every day. Home care is about much more than ticking tasks off a list. It is about understanding each person, building trust and supporting them to live well at home, where they feel most comfortable.

“What stood out in the CQC report was how people feel about what we do. They felt listened to, respected and supported in a way that reflected who they are, and that is exactly what we’re always aiming for. We now want to continue building on this feedback and keep improving.”
