Guild Care’s Home Care service has been rated “Good” in all areas after inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in September. This is the second consecutive time the Home Care service has received a “Good” rating.

The report highlighted that people were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible with the policies and systems in the service supporting this practice.

Care workers treated those using the service with kindness and respect, with clients being involved in decisions about their own lives whilst their privacy was promoted. People's needs were assessed and care plans reflected their preferences and choices. One service user told CQC, "The carers are wonderful, really kind.”

Guild Care also ensured workers were supported to develop their skills and knowledge, with staff having access to a range of training courses including nationally recognised qualifications in care.

Guild Care’s Director of Community Services, Claire Howell, said, “I am delighted with the outcome of Home Care’s recent CQC inspection. All the staff in our Home Care Team have worked hard since their previous inspection to continuously improve the quality of the service. The CQC outcome and report is a testament to their hard work, which enables hundreds of people in the local area to continue to live independently in their own homes.”

CQC found care workers were trained in safeguarding procedures and had a good awareness of the principles of this guidance and legislation, finding Guild Care were vigilant in following safeguarding procedures to ensure any concerns regarding people's safety and welfare were referred to the relevant authority.

They stated that care workers demonstrated they had values of patience and compassion and said it was important to treat people with respect and dignity. One care worker said they were motivated to improve people's lives, explaining, "It's not just about the pay, the clients come first."
