Local residents, Joan Kirkham and Jean Exell have raised £127 for local charity Guild Care, through a coffee morning Easter craft sale.

The friends who live in the same retirement complex, organised an Easter themed craft sale for their fellow residents, selling handmade, decorated bags and boxes complete with Easter eggs, cards and even held a raffle with items kindly donated.

Held during the complex’s coffee morning for residents, Joan and Jean found it was the perfect time for captive audiences, who were keen to support the friends.

Friends of Joan and Jean are volunteers in Guild Care’s services. Joan said, “When they [friends] had a letter saying that one lot of funding had finished and things might be a bit tight, well we usually do it for a charity, so we said let’s give it to Guild Care.”

The pair also had other friends who use Guild Care’s day services, including attending the Guild Care Centre for activities and lunch.

Joan and Jean presented their cheque to Guild Care’s Chief Executive Suzanne Millard, who thanked them for their generous donation, hard work and support of the charity.
