Tailored dementia care brings peace of mind Haviland House is our purpose-built dementia care home, which was specifically designed to meet the needs of people living with dementia at different stages. Guild Care offers person-centred care at Haviland House within a supportive environment where residents can live happily and comfortably. The charity is committed to ensuring that no one feels isolated. Haviland House exemplifies this by having five distinct households, each tailored to support residents at a specific stage of dementia. Each household is staffed by a team of carers who aim to create a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. This structure ensures that residents settle in quickly and receive care that is sensitive to their individual needs, helping to prevent feelings of isolation. Guild Care is also proud of its continuous investment in services and facilities. Every room at Haviland House includes ensuite amenities, providing comfort and privacy for each resident. The bedrooms are also equipped with acoustic monitoring to offer peace of mind at night for residents. Expansive gardens and a sensory summer house are enjoyed by residents during warmer months, while an indoor garden room brings the outdoors inside when the weather is cooler. To enhance residents’ wellbeing, Haviland House offers a diverse range of activities. These are organised by Kirsty, the home’s award-winning activities and wellbeing coordinator. The activity program includes live musical performances, arts and crafts, light exercise classes, and more leisurely pursuits such as jigsaw puzzles. Feedback from families has been overwhelmingly positive. One family member said, “My mum loves the activities which take place every day. My mum is always smiling and happy. Thank you Haviland for making what could have been a difficult transition for my mum, and our family, so much better.” Another testimonial, from the wife of a resident, highlighted the support received during the early days of her husband’s stay: “I was so worried about leaving my husband for the first time but the staff made him feel so welcome and really put my mind at ease. They could not do enough for us to make sure he was settled and happy. I would definitely recommend and use Haviland House again in the future.” The team at Guild Care appreciates that the transition to a care home can be daunting, particularly for individuals in the later stages of dementia. At Haviland House, their focus is on making this process as stress-free as possible by offering personalised care, and support that residents and their families can rely on.
