Worthing Indoor Bowls Club raised £850 for Guild Care from a charity day they held on Saturday 22nd September.

The event, sponsored by Wall Bros Carpets, saw club members take part in an internal competition. A raffle and lunch were also held.

Worthing Indoor Bowls Club is located in Durrington On Sea, to the west of Worthing at the entrance of Field Place. The purpose built premises was opened in 1963 and has a total membership of 500.

Club Secretary Kevin Buck said, “Each year the club holds a charity event where two groups of 10 teams (80 members) compete on a league basis during the day in support of a local charity. This year the club chose Guild Care as the recipient with it being such an important community charity within the Worthing area. Also, our club president Derek Ridley was a Trustee for many years and still has a link with them.

We were very pleased that Wall Bros agreed to sponsor the event, the day was a great success and was enjoyed by all those who participated and we were delighted to raise £850 for such a worthy cause.”

WIBC are now looking towards the possibility of introducing a competition between other local indoor clubs in support of Guild Care in the future.

Guild Care’s Community Fundraising Officer, Auds Stapleton, said, “WIBC made such a fantastic effort with their charity day which was well supported by club members, creating a great atmosphere and we are hugely grateful for their support.”
