Children at our Ashdown Centre enjoyed a half term packed with exciting activities last week, including a visit from a parliament of owls and a pizza making session!

The Ashdown Centre provides respite care for families with children and young adults who have learning disabilities and other complex needs. It currently provides stimulating and fun sessions for more than 100 families in Worthing.

The centre’s Ashdown Club service was excited to be visited by Hawking About on Thursday. The organisation brought along three owls to meet the children and everyone involved had a hoot! The Ashdown Club offers short breaks for children aged 5-12 with a variety of needs, including physical, developmental, educational, sensory, behavioural and psychological.

The fun didn’t stop at animal visits - Ashdown Siblings took part in a pizza making session. The Ashdown Siblings service offers sessions in the school holidays to the siblings of children who use the centre, enabling them to meet peers in the same situation as themselves, have fun and relax.

Charlotte Brackley, the Ashdown Centre Manager, said: “Ashdown are thrilled to be able to put on a wide range of exciting activities for the children and young adults that use our services. It was so much fun to watch the children engage with the owl, growing their confidence.

“We wouldn’t be able to put on such a fun selection of activities for the children without the support of our community. Thank you to everyone that has supported our centre and our charity as a whole.”
