Caer Gwent combines superb residential living with 24- hour expert nursing care, supporting individuals with complex health conditions, particularly focusing on palliative (i.e. end of life) support.

Opened in 1988 by the Earl of March, Caer Gwent is an elegant care home set in a quiet residential area of Worthing. The home boasts a beautifully landscaped garden and a piano bar ideal for entertaining friends and family.

Our fully inclusive services adapt to deliver the right level of care wherever our residents are on their journey, providing a forever home as their needs change. Our charitable status means we can dedicate more time to care. We are not answerable to shareholders which allows us to invest in our facilities. With a marketing-leading number of care staff, everyone benefits from more quality one-to-one time. Our established team of highly trained carers and 24/7 nursing teams are committed to delivering high quality, person-centred care, with compassion, skill and expertise.

Many of the rooms open out around the beautiful gardens and are light and spacious with en-suite bathrooms and soft furnishings. The dining rooms and conservatory are sunny and cheerful and the TV lounge and library offer places to relax and unwind.

CQC rating

A message from Kevin Burke, Director of Quality and Care Home Operations

We are pleased that our rating has improved to good in 3 domains and are pleased that our focus and hard work has ensured that issues from the last inspection were all resolved and judged as compliant. We are proud of our teams as these improvements has been achieved during the pandemic and a time of other unprecedented pressures and factors.

We are disappointed that a small number of issues that were all resolved and actioned during the inspection have been carried over across 2 domains and have affected our overall rating which we feel does not accurately reflect the lived experiences of residents and relatives. A view that is shared by those living at Caer Gwent.

We remain committed to continuous improvement and ensuring that experiences are outstanding and have taken appropriate remedial action.

We look forward to CQC’s prompt return in order to restore the rating to a standard that accurately reflects the experiences of our residents and relatives.
